How low can the North Korean regime go? Friday a spokesman claimed his death was a mystery. The statement comes close to suggesting his treatment here in America was responsible for his death. From NBC News:
North Korea claimed Friday that it doesn’t know why American college student Otto Warmbier’s health was so poor that after months of imprisonment he ended up dying — and said it even revived him after his “heart was nearly stopped.”
“The fact that Warmbier died suddenly in less than a week just after his return to the U.S. in his normal state of health indicators is a mystery to us as well,” a North Korean foreign ministry spokesman was quoted as saying by the state-run Korean Central News Agency.
Maybe there’s something going on with the translation here but the phrase “in his normal state of health indicators” makes it sound as if it’s normal for a 22-year-old to be in a coma for a year. And the focus on his dying “suddenly” after returning to the U.S. sounds like an attempt to blame his care here rather than what happened to him there. Is there anyone dumb enough to think Wambier received better treatement at the hands of North Korea prison doctors than he did here at home. Let’s just call this statement by North Korea what this is: trolling. And it continues:
The spokesman also blamed the Obama administration for failing to act sooner to help Warmbier, saying the 22-year-old University of Virginia undergrad was “a victim of policy of ‘strategic patience.'” The Obama administration, the spokesman said, never asked for his release.
I’m not a fan of the Obama administration but this is just pure propaganda. The Obama administration failed to secure Warmbier’s release but it succeeded in getting 10 other prisoners of the regime free. The idea that they never asked for is release? That’s just more, grim trolling from a nation run by a deranged and paranoid man-child. Having kidnapped, tortured and ultimately murdered an American college student they are now spitting on his grave by proclaiming their own innocence.
