Elizabeth Warren is campaigning with Hillary Clinton today in New Hampshire. Warren used her time at the microphone to bash Donald Trump over accusations of inappropriate behavior toward women. Warren then did a riff on “nasty women” going to the polls.
“He thinks that because he has money that he can call women fat pigs and bimbos,” Warren said. “He thinks that because he is a celebrity that he can rate women’s bodies from one to ten. He thinks that because he has a mouth full of tic tacs that he can force himself on any woman within groping distance,” Warren continued. This line brought boos of disapproval (of Trump) from the crowd and laughter from Hillary Clinton who was seated on stage beside the podium. “Well, I’ve got news for you Donald Trump,” Warren said, “Women have had it with guys like you.”
“And nasty women have really had it with guys like you,” Warren said. “Get this Donald, nasty women are tough. Nasty women are smart. And nasty women vote,” she continued to cheers from the crowd. “And on November 8th, we nasty women are going to march our nasty feet to cast our nasty votes to get you out of our lives forever.”
All of this was a reference to a moment in the 3rd presidential debate when Hillary Clinton said Trump would have to pay more in Social Security “assuming he can’t figure out how to get out of it.” At this point, Trump interjected, “Such a nasty woman.”
Warren has spent months lashing out on Twitter at Trump’s “racism, sexism, and xenophobia.” Back in May it seemed Warren was auditioning for the role of Vice President but, as I said at the time, Warren’s downside was that she would always tend to overshadow Clinton. And so here they are together and, as expected, the media is headlining Warren’s “nasty” speech and treating Hillary as an afterthought at her own rally. I’m no fan of Warren but she definitely knows how to work up the progressive base.
Here’s a clip of Warren delivering this portion of her speech.
