More evidence the MSM shares cheat sheets

Now that the “historic” indictment of former President Donald Trump has come and gone, you may have once again noticed a curious pattern in the non-stop coverage the event received in the liberal media. Both before and after the hearing, hosts at CNN, MSNBC, the alphabet networks, and the rest of the liberal media appeared to be reading from the same script. Whenever Trump did or said something in response to the indictment, he was almost unfailingly described using the same single word: “defiant.” And as the Washington Free Beacon discovered upon investigating, that word erupted across all of these channels almost simultaneously. There are many words that could have described the former President’s reactions. Could this really just be a coincidence? Doubtful at best. The Free Beacon assembled clips of more than a dozen of these talking heads parroting each other and it’s hilarious.

Former president Donald Trump appeared in court on Tuesday, pleading not guilty to 37 federal charges. Liberal media outlets were of the same mind ahead of Trump’s court appearance, with more than a dozen anchors and commentators describing the former president as “defiant.”

Check out the Free Beacon’s video. This is some top-notch work they did stitching all of this together in such a brief format.

They’ve got ABC News once, NBC News once, MSNBC eight times, and CNN nine times. They’re really not even trying to hide it at this point. I guarantee you that there is some sort of private Twitter Space or message board that they are all hooked into 24/7. And when a story breaks, particularly if it involves the Bad Orange Man, they immediately start pitching ways to paint him in the worst light. This time someone came up with the idea of calling Trump “defiant,” and the rest of them nodded their heads and went along with it.

While we’re on the subject, how did Trump acting “defiant” come as a surprise to anyone or present an attitude you deemed worthy of criticism? When he was informed by his attorneys that he was going to be arrested (again) and charged (again), particularly on this egregious list of charges, how did you expect him to react?

Oh, I’m so sorry. I had no idea I was engaging in espionage and treason by having these documents in my house. But now that you’ve explained it to me so clearly and convincingly, there’s no need for a trial. I’ll just drop out of the race and go check myself into jail.’

Tucker Carlson used to collect clips like this frequently when he was still on Fox News. There are plenty of them out there if you take the time to look. And these patterns are far too persistent and predictable to write off as random coincidences. Sure, you can accurately predict which networks will immediately have a negative take and speak critically of anything involving a conservative figure or policy. But the way that keep spouting identical words and phrases time after time is simply too much to ignore.

Do you suppose there’s a reason for that? I would suggest that it’s a form of social conditioning, particularly for viewers who tend to flip between a few different news channels or check in multiple times per day. If you repeat the same words over and over again for a long enough time and do so with a seeming voice of authority, at least some people will start believing it no matter how nonsensical it sounds. And considering how 2023 has been shaping up, almost anything seems believable or at least possible at this point.
