Another Blinken lie. Under oath?

Finding out that a politician has lied about something is pretty much a dog-bites-man story in Washington, but Secretary of State Antony Blinkin appears to be raising the bar to new levels. We have already learned about his involvement in the creation of the fake letter signed by 51 intelligence officials saying that the Hunter Biden Laptop from Hell story was probably Russian disinformation. But now something else has emerged that may come back to bite him where the sun doesn’t shine and it dates back to his time serving as the Deputy Secretary of State under Barack Obama and then-Vice President Joe Biden. While providing testimony to Congress, Blinken said that he couldn’t contribute much to the story because he hadn’t been in contact with Hunter Biden, even by email. And it’s true that no emails between Hunter and Blinken’s official campaign email address or later his State Department address have turned up. But at least one of them has shown up on the laptop. And it curiously came from Blinken’s personal email account. National Review has the details.

It turns out that Blinken communicated with Hunter Biden by email when he was deputy secretary of state in the Obama-Biden administration. Blinken obscured some of his correspondence with the then-vice-president’s son by conducting it via a private email account, thus ensuring that it wouldn’t be recorded in the government’s record-keeping system. But, alas, it was recorded on Hunter’s laptop. Blinken’s correspondence with Hunter was thus found when the Washington Examiner caused the laptop data to be scrutinized.

The correspondence is intriguingly timed. In mid-2015, while Biden and his sidekick Devon Archer were raking in money hand-over-fist after curiously being appointed to the board of the corrupt Ukrainian energy company Burisma, Biden contacted Blinken to get his “advice on a couple of things.” They proceeded to set up a lunch meeting.

This was all taking place at the same time that Hunter Biden was raking in big bucks from Ukraine thanks to Burisma. During Blinken’s 2020 testimony before Congress, he confessed to once having a meeting with Hunter, but he couldn’t recall talking about anything but the death of Hunter’s older brother Beau. And that’s when he said that they had never exchanged emails.

So why would Blinken lie to Congress about this if everything was on the up and up? And what did they really talk about during that meeting? The email only reveals that Hunter wanted to talk about “a couple of things.” Joe Biden has repeatedly stated that he never spoke to Hunter about his overseas business deals. He was a free agent. So what was he doing contacting the Deputy Secretary of State for advice? And where did he get the Deputy’s private email address?

National Review raises another pertinent question. Might it be that Blinken was particularly motivated to have the laptop story dismissed as Russian disinformation because he knew that his own emails might turn up inside? That possibility it tough to ignore.

Of course, the supposed fact-checkers at factcheck.org were quick to rush to Blinken’s defense. They wrote that there is “less to the accusation” than is being suggested. But they then go on in a lengthy analysis to confirm virtually every point that was brought up. They detail the interview that Blinken gave to Congress in December of 2020 as was required before he could be confirmed as Secretary of State. They point out that the interview included him saying “no” when he was asked if he had any other forms of communication with Hunter Biden, specifically including emails. They admit that lying to members of Congress on the record during such a meeting is a felony, even though he was not technically under oath. They do not deny that the emails are real, but they wave them away as consisting of “exchanges of pleasantries.”

The noble fact-checkers also make no mention of the fact that the emails were to and from Blinken’s private email account despite the fact that they involved a meeting that was to take place at his office at the State Department. Does this not raise any questions in their minds? Anyone who enters those offices is supposed to be recorded and any records of such meetings, no matter how “pleasant” or “trivial” are supposed to be kept.

This entire matter stinks from the bottom to the top. And most of the media is once again playing defense for Team Biden and all of his inside allies.
