Chicago thugs face misdemeanor charges after killing baby in stolen car crash

On April 16th, four teenagers stole a Hyundai in Chicago. Reports of a car being stolen in Chi-Town would normally constitute nothing more than another day ending in a “Y.” But during the boys’ efforts to flee with the vehicle, they smashed into a pickup truck owned by Annelisse Rivera who was traveling with three of her children. The high-speed crash destroyed both vehicles. Rivera and her seven and fifteen-year-old daughters were seriously injured. Her six-month-old baby son Cristian Uvidia died in the hospital from damage to his skull a short while later. Compounding this tragedy is the fact that as of now, only two of the teens have been charged and they were only hit with a misdemeanor charge of criminal trespassing. (NY Post)

Two teenage boys are facing only misdemeanor charges after they allegedly stole a car and crashed it into another vehicle, killing a 6-month-old baby in Chicago last week.

The boys, ages 17 and 14, were each charged with just one misdemeanor count of criminal trespassing in the deadly April 16 crash in the city’s West Garfield Park neighborhood, according to Chicago police.

The teens were driving in a stolen Hyundai when they slammed into a Ford pickup truck at an intersection of West Washington Boulevard and North Kostner Avenue shortly after 5 p.m., according to cops.

To be fair, the police are saying that additional charges “could be upgraded” when the investigation is complete. But first of all, how long does it take to investigate an automobile theft when everyone involved was immediately placed at the scene of the crash? A baby was killed. It doesn’t sound like you’d be needing to call in Nero Wolfe to sort this out.

If no other charges are added, Criminal Trespass to a Vehicle is a Class A Misdemeanor in Chicago. That carries a penalty of a fine of no more than $2,500 and less than a year in jail. Of course, since the gangbangers in this incident are all under 18, the charges will probably be kicked to the juvenile court, where they likely won’t even be sent to a day behind bars.

Where is Kim Foxx, the Soros-funded State’s Attorney in all of this? Where is the public outrage? Have the people of Chicago simply grown so used to gang violence and criminal mobs that they will simply shake their heads and look away? All Annelisse Rivera seemed able to say was that the charges (and lack thereof) were “disheartening.”

Also, what about the other two boys in the car? There are not yet any charges filed against them. I doubt they somehow wound up in the stolen car “accidentally.” It’s a safe bet that if those four haven’t already been indoctrinated into one of Chicago’s gangs, they had a gang contact waiting to buy the car from them if they managed to get away. And you can bet that the city’s gangbangers are watching this case closely and with approval.

Chicago saw more than 21,500 vehicular thefts last year, counting both thefts of parked cars and carjackings. That was an increase of more than 55% over the previous year. It’s an ongoing epidemic of crime. Is this what residents can expect under the tenure of incoming Mayor Brandon Johnson? We can be sure that there will be no incentive for the thieves to slow down if this crew is let off with a slap on the wrist.
