According to a court document obtained by the New York Post, the police in Nashville and the FBI are still scouring through all of transgender shooter Audrey Hale’s belongings from her car and the house she shared with her parents. Mention is made of a suicide note she left behind, as well as a shotgun and a store of ammunition. Other electronic devices were also recovered, including cellphones and laptops, as well as more “journals” of an unspecified nature. What remains completely absent from all of these reports are the contents of the various documents and notes. What purpose withholding the evidence serves at this point hasn’t been specified, but it’s been more than a week now and we’ve heard nothing about any additional arrests or whether or not there will be additional suspects named.
Investigators recovered a suicide note and further evidence during a search of Nashville school shooter Audrey Hale’s home, according to a court document.
Metro Nashville police officers scouring the 28-year-old transgender shooter’s home on the day of the killings discovered the note, ammunition and a shotgun among 47 items, according to an inventory of the seized property.
Also recovered from the property — which Hale shared with her parents — were more journals, cellphones and laptops, according to the document, which was obtained by The Post.
The police have leaked out general descriptions of the contents of Hale’s writings without providing the actual text. For example, we’ve been told about how she planned the attack for months and how she considered other schools as targets, finally settling on Covenant because it had the least security.
If they’re going to tell us that much, why not just give up the full contents of the documents? And what about this “manifesto” that we keep hearing about? Are we ever going to see that?
The process is still being described as an ongoing investigation. If that’s the case, fair enough. You don’t want to blow up another potential prosecution by releasing too much prematurely. But seriously, how much more is there to investigate? If there was any suggestion of an accomplice and they have been unable to locate the person, wouldn’t the authorities have asked for help in finding them by now?
That scenario simply seems unlikely in the extreme. And now that we know there was a suicide note left behind, it seems even less likely. Suicide seems to typically be a solitary affair, even when it’s a case of suicide by cop. (Which this clearly was.) Charges against Hale’s parents seem unlikely as well. From everything we’ve heard thus far, her parents did not approve of her owning guns. They even thought she had sold hers. They also reportedly did not approve of her gender “transition,” but that may not be relevant.
We still seem to be stuck in the same place. The police and the FBI are hanging on to that manifesto and her other writings with an iron grip. If the contents demonstrate that she planned the attack because she was angry about Tennessee’s transgender legislation, it’s going to turn into a black eye for a lot of activists. If that wasn’t her reason, they have nothing to worry about beyond their disgraceful words after innocent children were murdered. Let’s get off the stick and get the rest of the information out to the public, folks.
