"Misgendering" gets teacher booted from school

Just because this story is taking place in England, don’t get too comfortable because the trend has already spread across the pond. Our tale takes place at an Oxfordshire secondary school, where instructor Joshua Sutcliffe has gotten himself in a spot of trouble. In fact, it’s the sort of trouble that puts one out of a job for at least a month and a half.

What was Joshua’s grave offense? He said, “well done, girls” to a pair of students. Unfortunately for him one of the girls is identifying as a boy and her parents quickly let slip the hounds of social justice war. The Daily Caller has the details.

Math teacher Joshua Sutcliffe, 27, said “well done girls” to two students at an Oxfordshire secondary school. He apologized to the transgender student, however, Sutcliffe faces a disciplinary hearing this week and officials could charge him with misconduct for misgendering, the Evening Standard reported.

“While the suggestion that gender is fluid conflicts sharply with my Christian beliefs… I have never looked to impose my convictions on others,” Sutcliffe, who is also a Christian pastor, said according to BBC News.

The teacher was suspended six weeks after the incident when the student’s mother complained.

So “misgendering” is now a crime to at least some degree. Not for nothing, but the Brits have more than a few problems with their schools. One of the biggest is the seemingly endless parade of child sex abuse stories which keep cropping up in places like Rochdale, Rotherham, Newcastle and others. You’d think perhaps they might have some bigger fish to fry than a teacher who even accidentally fails to reinforce the delusions of a very confused child.

The BBC is further reporting that more than 2,000 children aged three to 18 were referred to a gender identity specialist in the U.K. in 2016 alone. Are you serious? Age three? If you’re referring three-year-olds to a “gender identity specialist” then you indeed have some serious problems at your school and they have nothing to do with this teacher. Toddlers at the age of three do not require a gender identity specialist. They need someone from the English equivalent of Child Protective Services to hustle over to that kid’s house, investigate what on Earth the parents are doing and possibly remove the child from the home.

As I mentioned above, the “misgendering” madness isn’t confined to our friends on the other side of the Atlantic. Just recently, a Minnesota lawmaker found herself in trouble for a tweet she sent out after the last round of elections. Two transgender candidates had been elected to the Minneapolis City Council. This prompted Republican Rep. Mary Franson to tweet, “A guy who thinks he’s a girl is still a guy with a mental health condition.”

For the crime of stating something which is objectively and obviously true, Franson has been taken to the woodshed. And you can continue to expect more of the same unless and until we get some sort of definitive high court ruling stating that science still actually matters and it’s dangerous all the way around to have the government actively participating in the normalization of this sort of delusion.
