Hillary Clinton can't understand why everyone is so interested in talking about her

The former First Lady is still working on her sequel to National Lampoon’s Vacation (with the requisite, crossover Scooby Doo appeal) as she settles in for some good old fashioned politicking in New Hampshire. And in case you’re wondering… yes, she “drove” there from Chappaqua, because apparently any travel in a car or van these days can be described as “driving” even if the vehicle is being handled by your chauffeur. The new grandmother had some more small venue, not at all scripted meetings with heavily vetted regular citizens on tap, but seemed to be annoyed that people wanted to keep asking her impertinent questions about issues being raised by her potential election opponents.

“I think it’s worth noting that Republicans seem to be talking only about me,” she told reporters after her first roundtable in New Hampshire, which took place at a family-owned wooden toy company in Keene. “I don’t know what they’d talk about if I weren’t in the race.” …

She swatted away attacks due to be published in a book out next month, “Clinton Cash: the Untold Story of How and Why Foreign Governments and Businesses Helped Make Bill and Hillary Rich,” by Peter Schweizer. “[I’ll be] subjected to all kinds of distractions and attacks, and I’m ready for that. I know that that comes, unfortunately, with the territory,” she told reporters.

This is yet more evidence that Clinton has a different strategy this time around and she’s going to be sticking with it. She has a set list of things she plans on talking about with the right groups of people and that is going to be the end of the discussion, as Guy and MK Hammer would say. When her emails all disappeared into the ether, she held one presser to say that “the server would remain private” and has essentially gone into radio silence on the subject since then, leaving everyone else to speculate. Any questions about foreign donations to the Clinton Foundation are “distractions and attacks” which are not worthy of wasting her precious time. (I said Good Day, Sir!)

But apparently the list of forbidden subjects is not limited to questions being raised over her growing list of scandals. Some of the reporters in New Hampshire gamely attempted to get her to comment on other important issues which some of the Republicans are running on. When asked about entitlement reform, she batted the question away, saying she wanted to avoid getting into arguments “about ideology and rhetorical attacks and claims.”

The video of the question where she said that the GOP only wanted to talk about her (which is absurd on its face) shows that she followed up the comment by saying, “hopefully we can get on to the issues.” If entitlement reform isn’t an issue, then what is? She has essentially clammed up on the subject of ISIS and terrorism after muttering a few comments about it being “a long term struggle” in February. I suppose we’ll need to elect the candidate to find out what’s in the candidate’s foreign policy strategy.

I said this back when she walked away from the email server discussion and I’ll say it again now. It just might work. If she refuses to answer questions and just calls everything a distraction except for her prepared text each day, what are we supposed to do? She’s sitting on a monster lead in the polls and really has nothing to gain by taking any chances through engaging her opponents or the press. She could keep going like this right through election day if she really wanted to and just dare America not to elect her.
