Reports indicate ISIS has beheaded British prisoner David Haines

Early reports indicate that the animals in ISIS have executed another prisoner, a British one this time. The first indications – aside from Twittershowed up in the Australian press.

A NEW video from the Islamic State claims to show the beheading of a third prisoner — British man David Haines — and threatens America’s allies for supporting action in the Middle East.

The video appears intended as a direct threat to British Prime Minister David Cameron:

“For being a lapdog, Cameron, you will drag your people into another bloody and unwinnable war,” the video warns.

“This British man has to pay the price for your promise, Cameron, to arm the Peshmerga against the Islamic State.”

Insite Blog was reporting the same thing with a few more details.

The 2 minute, 27 second video, entitled, “A Message to the Allies of America,” was produced by the IS’ al-Furqan Media Foundation, and was posted on Twitter on September 13, 2014. Similar to the previous videos of beheading American journalists James Wright Foley and Steven Joel Sotloff, the latest shows the victims decrying his government’s actions against the Islamic State and holding its leadership responsible for his death.

The message also includes a thread to execute another British aid worker. I’m not going to reproduce the video here, and you should be warned before following the link that the images are very disturbing. By 6:30 pm eastern time, CNN was reporting the same thing on air and USA Today had run with the story on their site. References in the video to the recent bombing near a critical dam in Iraq tend to make this look current and legitimate.

I know I was on the receiving end of a lot of criticism the last time I said this, but today’s events should drive the message home even more. We have to do something about ISIS and air strikes and arming local “moderate” rebels – assuming such could even be found – simply may not be enough to rid us of this scourge. It may call for troops – and a lot of them – from both the United States and our allies. And this video will probably drive the Brits into full gear in supporting us as well.

This post was edited from the original version which incorrectly identified Haines as a journalist.
