Video: The Obama 2012 fashion show!

If Mitt Romney is the nominee, he’s going to have some big problems in the general election, as we’ve all heard. Not the least of these is the fact that Barack Obama will be painting him as a super rich guy, out of touch with the man on the street. You know… hanging out with the uber-wealthy and blowing huge gobs of cash in ways that Joe Average on Main Street couldn’t even dream of.

In an effort to drive this point home and establish his own credentials as a Man of the People, President Obama has launched a brilliant plan. He’ll hold a huge fashion week event for the ultra rich. The RNC wasted no time in leaping on the opportunity.

Republicans are hammering President Obama for his reelection campaign’s New York City fashion-show fundraiser in a new Web ad debuting Tuesday, arguing the optics of the event are inappropriate while the economy continues to struggle.

The ad opens with shots of the invitation to the event, co-hosted by actress Scarlett Johansson and Vogue editor Anna Wintour. Both have been prominent donors for the president in the past. Subsequent shots of the invitation reveal other big-name attendees, including pop stars Beyonce Knowles and Sean Combs and fashion icons Marc Jacobs, Diane Von Furstenberg and Vera Wang.

Well, well… if that isn’t a list of the real common clay of the Earth voters, I don’t know what is. Check out the RNC ad for yourself below. The snark is almost overwhelming, but it gets the job done.
