Another "mysterious" BOOM in Iran

Given the number of mysterious explosions and accidental deaths (nearly all among the community of nuclear scientists) taking place in Iran these days, you can’t really blame them for wondering if something’s up. This time it was an unfortunate incident which looked like something straight out of a James Bond film. Two men on a motorcycle zoomed by and stuck a heavy magnetic object to the side of a car. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a bomb. And the car’s occupant? Darned if it wasn’t yet another nuclear scientist.

The bomb killed Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan, a chemistry expert and a director of the Natanz uranium enrichment facility in central Iran, the semiofficial Fars news agency reported. Natanz is Iran’s main enrichment site, but officials claimed earlier this week that they are expanding some operations to an underground site south of Tehran with more advanced equipment.

Witnesses told Reuters they had seen two people on the motorcycle a bomb to the car.

“The bomb was a magnetic one and the same as the ones previously used for the assassination of the scientists, and is the work of the (Israelis),” Fars quoted Tehran’s Deputy Governor Safarali Baratloo as saying. “The terrorist attack is a conspiracy to undermine the (March 2) parliamentary elections.”

Iran’s atomic energy organization said it would issue a statement later Wednesday.

It almost seems like every third person in Iran is a nuclear scientist these days. I mean, you almost literally can’t swing a dead cat without hitting one. (And nine times out of ten, the ex-feline will probably have a grenade in it.) Take it away, Lid.

The position of nuclear scientist in Iran is quickly becoming more dangerous than standing between NY Senator Chuck Schumer and the nearest TV Camera or between Ron Paul and the chance to add another earmark…

No, this must all be a horrible coincidence….hey accidents do happen and the Iranian scientists should be more careful.

The usual barrage of accusations is already starting. It must be the United States. No.. it was Israel. No, it was Israel but the U.S. paid for the gas in the motorcycles. Why doesn’t anyone ever blame the Taliban?
