Palmieri had the sad duty of breaking the news to Clinton.

“I have something to tell you,” she told the former first lady.

“OK!” an upbeat Clinton responded. “What do you have to tell me?”

“It’s bad. Really bad,” Palmieri warned.

But when the other shoe dropped, Clinton kept her cool.

“Yes, I knew we weren’t done,” she said, adding in a deadpan tone: “All right. Let’s talk about what we are going to do about it.”
