The U.S. military says it is not coordinating attacks with Iran, even though both nations are targeting the same foe. “We are not coordinating with … Iranian military,” Rear Adm. John Kirby, the Pentagon press secretary, said.
U.S. officials said, however, that they are aware of air activities over Iraq, suggesting they are confident Iranian attacks would not pose a danger to coalition airmen. “We know what is going on in airspace we’re operating in,” said Maj. Curtis Kellog, a spokesman for U.S. Central Command.
“We are flying missions over Iraq,” Kirby said. “We coordinate with the Iraqi government as we conduct those.”
