The rest of the country may be in suspense, but Democratic consultants really aren’t. They have no doubt that Hillary Clinton will be the party’s next presidential nominee and that Republicans will be at a big disadvantage because they don’t have anyone who’s the same kind of natural front-runner — and because they’ll tear each other up in the primaries.

“You’d think it would be tough for the party in power to hold on after eight years, but the Republicans are fractured, and the primary process is not going to help their problems,” said Democratic lobbyist and Hill veteran Steve Elmendorf.
