If Democrats keep the House:…

Everyone will blame Michael Steele. The indictment will be long and valid: Steele failed to build a powerful Republican National Committee; mismanaged its budget in every respect; mismanaged his time (Guam? Really? Post-Labor Day?); embarrassed the party with spending on private flights and worse; and seemed intent to make sure he could make cash with speeches and connections when he leaves next year. Plenty of Republicans have taken shots at him already, including Republican Governors Association Chairman Haley Barbour, who lamented to fundraisers that he needs to raise more cash to make up for Steele’s poor performance. Republicans will hate the image of forcing out the most powerful black man in the party – but they will.
