All the Cool Cabinet Officials Are on TikTok

President Trump is deploying his Cabinet not only across the country to promote his agenda in an election year but also across social media algorithms. An early adopter of TikTok, the president created his own campaign account in 2024, and the White House made its first official account last year. Now the administration is ramping up its social media presence.

Nearly every Cabinet-level agency created its own verified TikTok account and launched them on the same night in July. The White House created an additional TikTok account simply titled “Cabinet” to collate all the secretaries’ content in one place.

“The memes. The hype. The patriotism. The Cabinet is on TikTok. New platform, same energy,” the White House’s X account posted on July 21.

One month later, the Department of Homeland Security leads the pack with the most TikTok followers at around 165,000. The most prolific poster at 73 videos has been the Department of Housing and Urban Development, which has also been the agency most prone to posting cartoon content or artificial intelligence-generated videos. The Commerce Department sits in last place, with around 5,500 followers and only six videos posted. Five departments have not yet created an account, including the State Department, the Department of War, the Central Intelligence Agency, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, and the Office of Management and Budget.
