I can’t even pretend like this is a good idea. Ugh. President Donald Trump wants to rename Veterans Day, November 11 to Victory for World War I. He wants to recognize a new holiday on May 8 to Victory in World War II Day. We think these changes are colossally bad ideas. We think if Trump polled these ideas he would find that the public is 80/20 against splitting up the date.

President Trump is 100% wrong and the public would be right. Here is what Trump said from the Washington Examiner:

President Donald Trump announced on Thursday night that he is renaming Veterans Day to “Victory Day for World War I” and renaming May 8, known as V-E Day, as “Victory Day for World War II.”

Trump did not issue an executive order immediately following the announcement, though he could do so later on Friday.
