In this country, we have a problem. We have a cult of celebrity worship. We have scores of people who seem to live and breathe what celebrities say or do. They model their looks after their favorite singer or actress. They throw money at these people like there’s no tomorrow.

And yet, what is it about these people that’s so admirable?

Taylor Swift is approaching 35. She’s never been married, has no children, and other than singing, hasn’t really done anything of particular note that warrants any reverence by anyone else. She’s donated some money, but so have I. I’m damn sure not someone to revere.

Swift is far from the only example, either.
