Look, I think there’s nothing wrong with looking at groups that historically don’t apply and reaching out to them with your recruiting. There may well be some missed opportunities if you don’t.
However, there need to be standards that everyone needs to meet. If there aren’t, you’re not raising anyone up. You’re pulling everyone down.
That’s the heart of DEI. That’s what it’s essentially designed to do. Its focus on equality of outcome means that merit cannot—not should not, but explicitly cannot—matter. All that matters is demographics, and only in certain ways.
It’s entirely possible that the DEI efforts in the Secret Service almost resulted in the death of Donald Trump. It’s also possible that there are disasters yet to come as a result of the federal government’s DEI efforts.
