Morning ScrewYourBorough: Bragg Team Didn't 'Relish' Their Victory

On Friday's Morning Joe, MSNBC legal analyst Lisa Rubin, the show's go-to person on the Trump trial, commenting on the reaction to the guilty verdicts by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg and his prosecutorial team, made a flabbergasting claim: "This is not a group of people, despite what Donald Trump and his Republican allies are saying, that relished this victory, that are rejoicing in it."

The prosecutors, knowing that the cameras of the world were upon them, might have been able to restrain their enthusiasm. But does Rubin really expect us to believe that—their outward demeanor notwithstanding—on the inside it wasn't unrestrained revelry?

After all, as even the New York Times has reported, Bragg ran for DA on the platform of being the best person to prosecute Trump. So now that his big day has arrived, Bragg & Co. weren't "relishing and rejoicing?" Riight.

And lemme 'splain my decades-old nickname for the loathsome Scarborough. He was , at one time, my congressman. Then the 2000 election happened and he became the Bush attack dog here in Florida, by virtue of which we all guessed he figured he was going to be awarded with a plummy, high-profile administration job. When the dust settled, he was reelected, Bush was president, and Joe was still nothing but a NoFL congressman from one of the poorest districts in the state.

His massive ego found that irksome, and he resigned shortly after being re-elected claiming he couldn't afford to be in Congress. This, of course, meant our poor as dirt (especially almost  25 years ago) district had to fork over all the costs for a special election within months of a general election to replace his most unworthy asterisk, essentially screwing his constituents without a second thought.

He then took a job with the biggest law firm in town, which also happens to be one of the largest liberal players in the state, thereby cementing his complete turncoat status.

That didn't last long, as he heard the siren call of fame and fortune, and off he went to the big city, abandoning his family and his once-adoring conservative local base.

He was the subject of quite a few posts when Bingley and I had the Swilling humming. This is one I wrote as he contemplated a senate run in 2005

He's a piece of work.

By the way, it looks like this is the new narrative, as Politico is carrying Bragg's water, too:
