As I understand it from Professor Turley's explanation, jurors cannot assume that it rained simply by observing wet ground and the presence of an umbrella. He believes that the questions suggests that the jury is exploring reasonable doubt, and that the request for a passage from Cohen's testimony may be an opening for it.

That seems pretty optimistic. I'm not sure I'd get too excited by that; they may be looking for ways of threading a series of needles to find a way around reasonable doubt, too. At least there seems to be some debate taking place among jurors, though.
