Hoda Kotb And Jenna Bush Complain About WNBA’s Caitlin Clark’s Starting Salary

Parade estimates that Hoda Kotb makes $7 million/year. Jenna Bush’s media job brings her around $4 million per year. With their tiny salaries, it’s easy to understand why they were upset at Caitlin Clark’s breathtaking $78 thousand starting salary.

Being in the broadcast business, Hoda should understand why that salary difference is legitimate. If the WNBA had the same ratings, CPMs, game attendance, ticket price, and money from shirts and other team accessories, Clark would make the same amount for the WNBA as players make for the NBA, and the salaries would be the same.

Apples to oranges. When the WNBA draws as many viewers and sells as many tickets as the NBA does, then the issue of equal pay will be valid. But it doesn't; it would be akin to comparing the incomes of wait staff at Waffle House to that of a fancy high-priced Manhattan restaurant. Same job, but two very different markets.
