Demos II: The Next Pope Needs to Fix Francis' Autocratic and Ambiguous Papacy

Two years after the text signed 'Demos' (later revealed to have been written by Cardinal Pell) a new anonymous document, linked to the first, defines the seven priorities of the next Conclave to repair the confusion and crisis created by this Pontificate.

The Daily Compass is publishing an exclusive document in six languages, intended to circulate among cardinals in view of the forthcoming conclave and among the faithful as food for thought on the priorities of the Church. The text was written principally by a cardinal after he collated the suggestions of other cardinals and bishops. They have chosen to remain anonymous for the reasons explained in the letter.

When you read the letter, you'll understand the need for anonymity. It's a compact essay listing many of the general criticisms of Pope Francis that have circulated among conservative Catholics for years. Assuming that the NDC has an authentic document circulating among the cardinals, the question will be how many of the cardinals feel the same way. Francis appointed a significant number of those who will vote on his replacement, after all.
