New: Trump Moves to Delay Engoron Judgment

The defendants in former President Donald Trump's civil fraud case have asked the judge to delay the enforcement of penalties in the case, including Trump's $354 million fine and temporary ban on running a business in New York -- but the New York attorney general is pushing back on the request.

A lawyer for the defendants in the case asked Judge Arthur Engoron to delay the enforcement of penalties by 30 days, to allow for an "orderly post-judgment process."

But in a short letter to Engoron Thursday, state attorney Andrew Amer opposed the request, arguing that Friday's ruling left "no room for further debate" about the judgment.

I'll have further thoughts on the case in a few minutes. One question is worth asking about this aspect, though: what's the rush? There are no victims to compensate, and Trump's buildings aren't going to walk out of the state. This looks more like a tell about the real motives behind this lawsuit -- to ensure Trump's financial ruination out of political malice.
