Like the motion from fellow Trump co-defendant Michael Roman, which similarly aimed at the relationship between Willis and lead prosecutor Nathan Wade, Shafer says that the DA’s “prejudicial” comments in January at Big Bethel A.M.E. Church in Atlanta amount to an attempt to bias future jury members.

CNN analyst Elie Honig raised the same issue last week at NY Magazine. He noted that other courts had slapped Trump with gag orders to keep him from influencing jurors, and pointed out that Willis' remarks at the church was at least as bad as anything Trump might have done. Shafer also wants the trial moved out of Fulton County because its voting record means he can't get a fair trial, but I think Willis' poisoning of the jury pool is a far better argument.
