And now, state Rep. Nick Wilson tells The Messenger he is scrambling to correct a gaffe that would, if the bill were passed into law, make sex between first cousins legal in Kentucky.

House Bill 269, which Wilson sponsored, would criminalize any sort of sexual contact between family members, going a step further than current law which criminalizes intercourse but not other sexual behaviors.

But according to the Kentucky General Assembly website, the bill contains language that would also “remove first cousin from the list of familial relationships.”
