In a wide-ranging interview with Politico, Fetterman addressed the juxtaposition of his enthusiasm for President Joe Biden’s re-election and the president’s abysmal poll numbers.
“[T]hat doesn’t really matter,” Fetterman said of the polls. “There’s a whole lifetime in politics between now and next November as well. I’m not worried about that.”
“I’ll use this [as] another opportunity to tell James Carville to shut the f*** up,” Fetterman continued. “Like I said, my man hasn’t been relevant since grunge was a thing. And I don’t know why he believes it’s helpful to say these kinds of things about an incredibly difficult circumstance with an incredibly strong and decent and excellent president. I’ll never understand that.”
[Ha! Perhaps Fetterman misses what Carville’s role these days actually is, which is not “electing Democrats.” Or at least it’s not *supposed* to be. Democrats might do better to listen to Carville’s advice rather than tell him to shut up. Fetterman’s been good on other issues of late, especially Israel, so I’ll keep my snark leashed, but his description of Biden is risible on its face … especially the “strong” part. — Ed]
