Lawd ya’ll, I know it’s Sunday, and here I am writing about Oregon’s four pillars of menstrual dignity. My apologies right up front. But we need to mock it right now, just like the high school boys did in Lakeridge High School in Portland, Oregon.
What in the world has happened to us where we think we need to put tampon dispensers in the boys’ bathroom in high school. Forget “smoking in the boys’ room,” now we have menstruating in the boys’ room.
Portland has a Menstrual Dignity Act (HB 3294, 2021), which, at a glance…..
Requires free menstrual products to be provided for all students, K-12, in all public school buildings in Oregon. – Oregon.gov
As the writer at PJ Media points out, this law was made during the height of the pandemic in 2021 while schools were closed and in-person lawmaking was limited. They say to make girls who want to be boys welcomed in the male-gendered bathrooms in the name of making menstrual products free to all students.
