[That’s as close a vote as Jordan and Scalise got, so this isn’t over yet. There are rumors that House Democrats may vote ‘present’ if Emmer runs as the GOP’s Speaker nominee, however, so Emmer could win by having a much lower threshold of victory in a full House vote. I believe Dean Phillips (D-MN) explicitly said he’d do so for fellow Minnesotan Emmer. — Ed]
