German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock on Tuesday urged the Palestinian Authority to reject “terror” after the surprise Hamas assault on Israel.

“To the Palestinian leadership we say clearly: distance yourself from this terror,” Baerbock said[.]

[This warning comes as the EU holds an emergency meeting to discuss the suspension of aid to the Palestinian Authority. It looks like this isn’t going at all to expectations for the Palestinians. Abbas probably can’t condemn Hamas outright and keep himself from getting assassinated in the West Bank, but he’s probably not going to be unhappy to see Hamas wiped out in Gaza either.
