The acceleration in fundraising could be a sign that Trump’s 2024 campaign coffers are benefiting from his legal problems, which include four indictments.

[Impressive. That’s three times more than DeSantis raised. Trump also benefited from the Georgia mug shot, which he instantly turned into a marketing campaign. The campaign reports that $36 million of the funds are earmarked for the primary, which indicates that Trump expects a tough fight in that phase. Of course, all of these funds can be spent on legal bills too, and a good portion of them will likely cover those mounting costs. Donors certainly understand that by now, so it’s not as though they’re being tricked. Even with that, his lawyers aren’t charging him $15 million a month. This is a big boost to Trump’s campaign, depending on how it’s spent. — Ed]
