I’m in the minority. Most prefer the performance of leadership, it seems.
I don’t like personalities, who “lead” by the sheer force of their personage. They are playing a character — Inspired leader! Charismatic visionary! Visionary guru! They’re impersonating a boss, on a reality show. Most people love it. They fall for it. I get it. It’s seductive. …
But these leaders are often con-artists and they usually get outed, and then ousted, in the end.
[I don’t know if this was prompted by the criticism of DeSantis being “stiff” and “boring” at the debate (or elsewhere), but it applies. Who gives a damn if he’s boring, or stiff? DeSantis could beat the pants off the *actual stiff* currently in the White House, and his “boring” performance as governor just turned Florida from a purple state to a 19-point Republican landslide state. I don’t care if Nikki Haley is boring either; she can do the job and she could win the election too. If I want entertainment, there are plenty of places to find clown shows if the White House gets back to being quietly competent at protecting American liberty. — Ed]
