I don’t respond to offensive rumors in the media usually, but I need to now. I’m NOT in talks about an OceanGate film, nor will I ever be.

The director of the Oscar-winning “Titanic” movie took to Twitter recently to shut down a suggestion that he has plans to work on a project about the Titanic-bound submersible that suffered a “catastrophic implosion” last month, killing all five people on board. …
In addition to being a filmmaker, Cameron has made more than 30 dives to the Titanic wreckage and is among the very few people who have descended to the deepest known point in the Earth’s seabed.
[Cameron has been furious about the needless deaths in this entirely avoidable catastrophe. He’s not only made 33 dives on Titanic, he helped design and build his own submersible for that purpose. He has been outspoken since the event about just how arrogant Stockton Rush was and how often he’d been warned about the unnecessary risks he was taking. Cameron has made a series of appearances on news programs explaining all of this, and they have been quite informative. You can find them all over YouTube, but here’s one that will make it clear just how little interest he has in pretending this was an unavoidable side effect of innovation. — Ed]
