The Washington, D.C. Catholic church attended by Joe Biden celebrated a gay pride Mass Wednesday evening, prompting a group of conservative Catholics to pray the rosary across the street from the church in protest. Holy Trinity Parish, run by the Jesuits of Georgetown University, celebrated its 3rd annual LGBTQIA+ Pride Mass at its regularly-scheduled 5:30pm daily Mass time.
“Abuse of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is a serious sacrilege!” said a flyer for the rally.
“The Catholic Church teaches that God endowed all people with dignity and they should be treated with compassion and respect,” the flyer said. “But the Church does not celebrate sin, most especially at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.”
