Navratilova to Lia Thomas: Stop exploiting feminism to shout down feminists

In a lengthy op-ed for the Sunday Times of London, Navratilova said regardless of a male athlete undergoing hormone treatment for a gender transition, they still have a competitive advantage.

“Letting men compete as women simply if they change their name and take hormones is unfair — no matter how those athletes may throw their weight around,” Navratilova wrote.

“To put the argument at its most basic: a man can decide to be female, take hormones if required by whatever sporting organization is concerned, win everything in sight and perhaps earn a small fortune, and then reverse his decision and go back to making babies if he so desires,” she added. “… It’s insane and it’s cheating. I am happy to address a transgender woman in whatever form she prefers, but I would not be happy to compete against her. It would not be fair.”

[Naah, I’m done with that. If they want to assume a different identity, they can feel free to do so, but it doesn’t obligate me to participate in their delusion. You’d be competing against *him*, not *her*, which is the point. Otherwise, Navratilova is correct. — Ed]
