A reader writes to comment on the March 6 Star Tribune editorial throwing stones at FOX News from inside a glass house. He characterizes the editorial as possibly “the greatest example of media hypocrisy in the history of mankind,” which is hyperbolic, but the man has a point.
Exploiting the continuing embarrassment of FOX News in the Dominion lawsuit, the editorial is tough to swallow. It’s not just the schadenfreude, although there is that, it’s the continuing avoidance of the mirror.
The editorial is headlined “The disgraceful lies of Fox ‘News.’” They put “News” in quotes — hey, I know the feeling.
[The Strib is one of the more worthless newspapers in the country on national news. It does a decent job on local news, but as Scott suggests, the line between editorial and “news” got erased a long time ago at the Strib. Their editors may have some fair criticism for Fox News for their actions, but the Strib is one of the worst-placed news outlets in American to deliver it.
For instance: The Strib still hasn’t run a single news item on the Cochrane meta-study on the uselessness of mask mandates, and only tangentially and incompletely covered the Lancet meta-study on naturally acquired immunity, buried in a “winter bump” story on COVID cases. — Ed]
