The suspicious suitcase was checked in Monday by passenger Mark Muffley, 40, for a flight to Orlando, Florida, FBI special agent Eddie Garcia wrote in Muffley’s arrest warrant, released Wednesday by Axios.

The explosive device was found “hidden in the lining of the baggage,” the agent states. The suitcase also held “a can of butane, a lighter, a pipe with white powder residue, a wireless drill with cordless batteries, and two GFCI outlets taped together with black tape,” he said.

[Based on the description in the warrant, it doesn’t sound as though this was devised to go off in flight. With that said, though, it’s difficult to understand what Muffley actually intended to do with this device. That’s a question the FBI will investigate between now and a preliminary hearing, to be sure. — Ed]
