The million-ruble question no one will answer

What is the West’s end goal in the Russian-Ukraine war? That is the million-dollar — or ruble — question that nobody seems to have an answer to.

Call me crazy, but that question should have been answered before the U.S. decided to give billions upon billions of taxpayer dollars to Ukraine.

It wasn’t answered, and now world leaders are scratching their heads as to how this all ends. In an exclusive interview with POLITICO, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said point-blank that is what weighs on his mind the most.

[I think supporting Ukraine in fending off an invasion is the right thing to do, but I also think we’d better have some strategic vision on where this goes and how best to accomplish goals that serve our interests, too. Vladimir Putin’s non-rationality, as opposed to irrationality, makes that difficult. Putin is using rational means to gain a non-rational end (uniting all of Ancient Rus) much as Iran’s mullahs use rational means to a non-rational end (the establishment of global Islam under their rule). — Ed]
