John Ekdahl and I are thrilled to announce that, as of last week, we have taken over the day-to-day responsibility of running Ricochet.
We have no plans to make any dramatic changes to Ricochet’s staff. Jon Gabriel is still the editor, and he will remain so. Brian Johnson (EJHill) and Perry Block are staying in their roles. So is James Lileks. So are the site’s moderators. So is everyone else.
The biggest change we have planned is the launch of Ricochet v5.0. The current site (v4) hasn’t been substantially changed or updated since 2015, and we know that there’s a lot wrong with it. So we‘re rebuilding it, from the studs to the roof. This process is already underway, and, realistically, we’re looking at a release date of around April or May of 2023. The plan is to achieve full backwards compatibility: your posts, your comments, your messages, your username, your subscription—all this should come over. It should be a big improvement, and we’re excited about it.
[My congratulations and best wishes to both Charles and John. With Jon G still handling the editorial duties, it looks like brighter days ahead at Ricochet. — Ed]
