Haley, Noem differ in approach to Trump as 2024 jockeying begins

Ms. Haley, a South Carolinian who was a critic of Mr. Trump before becoming his United Nations ambassador for two years, has distanced herself at times from the former president, essentially continuing the approach she took when she disagreed with him while in his administration.

Ms. Noem, South Dakota’s first-term governor, has closely associated herself with Mr. Trump. On Friday, she was scheduled to appear at his Palm Beach, Fla., resort for a fundraiser benefiting her 2022 re-election campaign. Mr. Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., is hosting the $1,000-per-person cocktail reception at Mar-a-Lago, along with his girlfriend, Kimberly Guilfoyle…

Ms. Noem, who represented her state in Congress for eight years before becoming governor, has also received political advice from an adviser to the former president. Corey Lewandowski, who managed part of Mr. Trump’s first presidential campaign, accompanied Ms. Noem in early January at a Republican National Committee meeting in Florida.
