We’re told the producer was worried that if the hosts were seen huddling while McCain was away from the set, it would seem as if the meeting was about her.

A source told us the terrified producer “was sweating and said, ‘You can’t have a meeting . . . Meghan’s not here. I don’t want any Page Six items saying you’re meeting without Meghan.’ ” A spokesperson for the show told us it was all a misunderstanding. “She wanted to introduce her longtime friend Yvette to [part-time co-host] Ana [Navarro], so they headed to Joy [Behar’s] dressing room to do just that.”
