Giuliani: A Trump-Mueller interview "looks more hopeful"

President Donald Trump is closer to sitting down with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team than he has been in recent days, according to Rudy Giuliani, one of the president’s personal attorneys.

Giuliani told the PBS NewsHour Thursday that Mueller’s team and the president’s lawyers have been working together to narrow the scope of questions Mr. Trump would answer if he did sit down for an interview. However, Giuliani, who said the lawyers communicated as recently as Wednesday, added that it is still unclear whether the president will answer questions related to the investigation into possible collusion between Russia and Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.

A spokesman for Mueller’s team declined to comment Thursday night.

“It would be going a little too far to say he’s going to sit down,” Giuliani said of Trump. “But it looks more hopeful then it did a day or so ago.”
