Did Michael Avenatti ask Phil Griffin for an MSNBC show?

Indeed, a conversation Avenatti was spotted having with MSNBC president Phil Griffin at NBC’s W.H.C.D. after-party on Saturday has been working its way around 30 Rock’s gossip channels. According to two people to whom the chat was described, Avenatti made a casual remark about getting his own MSNBC show once all’s said and done. Griffin, I’m told, laughed it off in a polite, non-diminishing way. MSNBC declined to comment. Avenatti, meanwhile, told me he doesn’t recall the Griffin conversation and that he’s not pitching a show anywhere. But his fans need not lose hope.

“I’ve been approached by a number of networks who have explored the possibility of me possibly having my own show once the case is resolved,” he told me in a brief phone call, “but I’m not seriously entertaining any of those ideas because right now, I’m focused on the task at hand. The interest of me having a career in television is very flattering. Who knows, I may consider it, but I’m not going to worry about it or pursue it right now because my main priority is finishing this case.”
