So here is my solution: these liberal comedians and entertainers should become politicians. What is currently produced by monologue liberalism is often -though admittedly not always- too heavy on propaganda ideology to succeed as comedy or intelligent commentary. But if you judge it as political speech, it’s actually far smarter, insightful, honest, and interesting than the status quo. Jon Stewart would make a hell of a senator, and I think he could actually win.
While some might see it sad for politics to descend into comedy, the fact is political speech is really quite terrible right now. You truly do get far more truth from your average late night comedian than your average politician.
Donald Trump has proven that a celebrity can succeed in politics. And before him you had Schwarzenegger, Jesse Ventura, Al Franken, and Ronald Reagan. If the liberals who dominant entertainment culture today are disappointed but their party’s lack of success in the political sphere, they should do something about it.
