Cruise ship passenger goes overboard in Gulf

A 33-year-old woman went overboard on a cruise ship Friday, according to officials at Carnival Cruise Line.

In a statement, Carnival says Samantha Broberg was initially reported missing by her traveling companions. Crew members were unable to locate her during an extensive ship-wide search, and surveillance camera footage appears to show the woman going overboard around 2am.

Passengers aboard the ship say that authorities have posted signs searching for a missing passenger.

“They wanted to check every single room to make sure that every guest was in their room. They were just keeping up updated like ‘we have not found her.’ People are talking about it everywhere. They’re very sad,” passenger Linda Lopez tells Eyewitness News.
