There’s more to life than discussing gender politics. Like baseball games. And Korean barbecue. And the second season of “True Detective.” And, ideally, a sex life in which Betty Friedan does not make an appearance. Ever.
What Bonos actually wants isn’t a woman’s studies scholar, but a guy who isn’t a caveman. And those are far easier to find than she realizes, or is willing to admit.
Next, in Bonos’ ideal world, work is something of a political battlefield – and unnecessarily. Her feminist boyfriend is “supportive of, interested in and enthusiastic about his partner’s career,” which seems to presume she must have one (because every good feminist knows all women’s choices are valid, except the one to stay at home). He also doesn’t “think that his career trumps hers,” and might relocate for her career.
