No retreat: Palin to address gun convention later this month

Palin (R) will speak to the Safari International Club (SCI) in Reno, Nev. on Saturday, Jan. 29, according to the group’s website. The organization bills itself as “the leader in protecting the freedom to hunt and promoting wildlife conservation worldwide.”

The 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee’s speech is expected to touch on “her past hunting experiences and how politics affects the current state of hunting and fishing.”

The address comes amid a debate in Congress over gun rights that followed the shootings of 20 people at a meet-and-greet event for Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.).
