America's Antisemitic Problem, and the Democratic Party's Drive To Win Them Over

Last week, I got an alert on my phone that in my particular zone of Southern California, Central Orange County, we were going to go through a heat index warning. The forecast? 84 degrees. In California, in June. It's actually been a very mild year, temperature-wise, in my neck of the woods. I remember weeks in April back in 1989 where it was relentlessly over 95. Nothing close to that to date this year. In fact, the only thing that is relentless is the climate agenda alarmists trying to take normal weather and deploy a Jedi mind trick in order to convince you that normalcy is actually extreme weather.

It was hot back in 1966, too. 57 years ago, John Sebastian, the lead singer of the Lovin' Spoonful, had a hit with Summer in the City. Here is the first verse.

Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck gettin' dirty and gritty
Been down, isn't it a pity?
Doesn't seem to be a shadow in the city
All around, people lookin' half dead
Walkin' on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head

Things were bad then, I take it. Compare Los Angeles, 1966, to L.A., 2024. There's currently north of 70,000 homeless people looking half dead today, and it's not as hot as it was back then. It's just not. And as for been down, that could describe virtually everyone trying to contend with Joe Biden's inflation that's been exacerbated by Gavin Newsom's inane state regulations and policies.

But there's one thing that's very different in 2024 compared to the Los Angeles in the year of my birth. There were no pogroms against Jews happening on the streets back then. There sure are now, they're getting more violent, and they're spreading.

Los Angeles Mayor, Democrat Karen Bass, offered up this statement after the attack on Jews in L.A.'s West side.

That may sound like she's saying this behavior is unacceptable, but there are no people currently being held under arrest for this attack. LAPD, for the most part, were not involved. And in Los Angeles County, even if the police did pick up these people and recommend them for prosecution, District Attorney George Gascon is there waiting in the wings to promptly not file charges and turn them loose.

Compare that to France over the weekend. The nation that we took great delight in calling cheese-eating surrender monkeys after the term was coined in a 1995 Simpsons episode, reacted wholly different after a gruesome gang rape of a 12-year old Jewish girl by an antisemitic mob. The masses there rallied in support of Israel.

My wife and daughter just returned from their senior Girl Scout trip to Germany and Switzerland, a trip their troop had been planning for since they were in 2nd grade. On one of the buildings in Munich, there were three flags hanging. One was the Ukrainian flag, one was the German flag, and one was the Israeli flag. Even in most parts of Germany, they seem to get it, even if global politics currently takes a back seat to the UEFA European soccer Championship.

What was an isolated incident a few weeks ago on the Westwood campus of UCLA, where pro-Hamas protesters conducted a Jew hunt, chasing down Jewish students on campus and bludgeoning one unconscious, has now rippled into the city itself, this time right outside of a Jewish synagogue. It disgusts every Republican. It should disgust everyone, regardless of party. Unfortunately, these people not only have found quarter within the Democratic Party, The Democratic Party is holding rallies to win them over.

In the Bronx, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Jamaal Bowman reached another low in American politics with a rally that was as antisemitic as anything I've ever seen given by a politician in my lifetime. Here's a sample of the screed of AOC.

Why was she there? To support her antisemitic brother, Jamaal Bowman, who is in the political fight of his life in New York's primary on Tuesday.

Yes, that's right. Ceasefire, now. Let's get that poppin'. Let the murderous hordes that crossed the border into Israel on 10/7 to rape, pillage, kidnap, and murder Jews live to kill more Jews another day.

As for Bowman, there's really not much veneer of Jew hatred to peel away. It's pretty much all out in the open. (NSFW warning)

Joe Biden has been running on the Charlottesville lie, that Donald Trump allegedly called white supremacists good people on both sides. He's repeated that lie a hundred times since taking the oath of office, and it took until this weekend before Snopes finally called that out the lie that it is. Karen has the details

In an interesting development up in Washington State's 6th Congressional District, which encompasses much of Olympia and Tacoma, there is a jungle primary on August 6th, where the top two candidates of any party will face off in the fall. For the Democrats, there is a contested fight between State Senator Emily Randall, and Public Lands Commissioner Hilary Franz. Both are vying to replace the retiring Derek Kilmer. Kilmer has endorsed Franz, which may have been the right call, as it turns out.

Randall's campaign manager, until this week, is an antisemitic human specimen named Anna Carlson-Ziegler. Marc Rod over at Jewish Insider is the one who has broken this story wide open, and it's not a good look for Ms. Randall

Carlson-Ziegler has built up quite the social media posting when it comes to the Middle East war between Israel and Hamas since October 7th. Here's some of the lowlights.

Those included posts describing “Palestinian resistance as a natural and praiseworthy response to Zionist occupation and brutality,” posts describing Hamas as “the Palestinian resistance” and praising its continued survival, repeated calls for “the fall of the Zionist regime,” a post mourning the death of convicted terrorist and murderer Walid Daqqa and an Oct. 7 post denying that the attack by “Palestinian militants” was unprovoked.

Other posts Carlson-Ziegler liked included ones dismissing or denying the atrocities on Oct. 7 as propaganda, describing President Joe Biden as a war criminal and supporting various acts of vandalism and blockages of university, private and public property by anti-Israel demonstrators.

This is a problem. Anna Carlson-Ziegler is not some random staffer that's out there knocking on doors for Emily Randall. This is the manager of her entire campaign. This is a person in a position where the candidate has to be intimately familiar. How in the world could she not know her manager was a raging, active, engaged antisemite?

Randall said she wasn’t aware of Carlson-Ziegler’s activity until she was contacted by JI. Randall said she spoke to Carlson-Ziegler and, upon “confirming social media activity consistent with what you described, I made the decision to end their employment with our campaign.” Carlson-Ziegler did not respond to a request for comment.

Beyond the fact that she's run the campaign since last December and Randall was oblivious to her being a Jew-hater, no one in Randall's orbit - state senator colleagues, donors, volunteers, paid staffers, no one tipped Randall off to the problem she had on her hands until Jewish Insider came calling.

Randall, after firing Carlson-Ziegler, immediately tried to offer up the 'some of my best friends are Jews' smokescreen in order to put out the fire. Except this is not the first time Randall has played Footsie with antisemites.

Individuals who have hosted fundraisers for Randall have, according to screenshots viewed by JI, posted messages claiming that “the Jews will never be able to live [in the Middle East] in peace because they left here black but came back white,” praised the First Intifada, claimed that Israel allowed the Oct. 7 terror attacks to happen so it could retaliate against Palestinians and called for ending U.S. aid to Israel.

The presidential debate is supposed to take place Thursday night on CNN, if Joe Biden responds to treatment. Do you think Jake Tapper and Dana Bash will have a line of questioning on why the Democratic Party, from Joe Biden on down, are tweaking policy based on the outcries of antisemites? Why are the Democrats so desperate to appease their far left and reward that antisemitism by acknowledging that these antisemitic protesters have a valid point to make?

Who am I kidding? It's only a 90-minute debate. After the obligatory J6 segment, followed up by the equally obligatory abortion segment, and once you've factored in opening and closing remarks, that's pretty much all the time we have, right?
