Obama: "The government is us, and we're doing things right"

In addendum to Allahpundit’s earlier post on the president’s new-fangled plan to use Google and his campaign’s 21st-century technological savvy and whatever else in what will surely be the glorious attempt to improve the efficiency, intelligence, and accuracy of our hugely metastasized federal government, here’s some video of the man himself delivering this most auspicious news at the White House this morning. We apparently need to stop taking “comfort in just being cynical,” everybody, and the president is here with an “aggressive management agenda that delivers a smarter, more innovative and more accountable government for its citizens.” Great. We’ve got to have the brightest minds to help solve our biggest challenges. And it’s a reminder that in this democracy, we the people recognize that this government belongs to us, and it’s up to each of us and every one of us to make it work better. We can’t just stand on the sidelines. We can’t take comfort in just being cynical. We all have a stake in government’s success, because the government is us, and we’re doing things right. When we’re tracking weather more effectively, that saves lives for folks who are in the path of a tornado. …

If you say so, chief, but this certainly sounds like an awful lot more of the federal government’s typical pattern of attacking the symptoms and glossing over the actual disease.
