Ed: Stay classy, Dems! All they have is name-calling. That's it.

The left’s DOGE-inspired hysteria is silly—a political blunder. Donald Trump’s campaign promise in 2024 was explicit: Elect me and I’ll hand Mr. Musk a broom to clean out the Augean stables of the administrative state. Voters said, “OK boys, get after it.” I’m no political scientist, but I’m pretty sure that’s the opposite of a coup.

During the Obama years Democrats sold the American people on a brand of progressivism that was smart, confident and precise. Critics called it smirking and detached, but still, the left developed a reputation for keeping its cool. When things went wrong progressives turned to their allies in the media to excuse, to explain, to soothe. It worked well. They should have stuck by it.

Ed: It's deliberate. Their radical base didn't mind "cool" as long as they were winning and had access to power. Now their radicals want Democrats to storm the ramparts, or at least scream expletives and invective. To quote Bill Murray from Ghostbusters II, "You're scaring the straights."

Ed: Can we get reparations from Summer for being subjected to her stupidity? I'd be happy to settle for one percent of the USAID budget.

A lieutenant of Trump ally Elon Musk and other outsiders are overseeing the immediate termination of hundreds of American aid and foreign assistance programs abroad this week, without required documentation or justification, according to newly filed affidavits from staffers and accounts Wednesday from U.S. officials.

Meanwhile, other affidavits from USAID staffers until recently based in Congo describe the gutting of their agency by President Donald Trump and Musk, which they said left them abandoned and in danger from political violence in the African country's capital.

Ed: The data is from January, most of which was run by the Joe Biden Cabal and all of which took place before DOGE did anything at all on domestic programs. Schumer is apparently too stupid to realize it.

“Some of the things that I say will be incorrect and should be corrected,” Musk said. “Nobody’s going to bat 1,000. We will make mistakes, but we’ll act quickly to correct any mistakes.” ...

“I’m not sure we should be sending $50 million worth of condoms to anywhere, frankly. I’m not sure that’s something Americans would be really excited about.

“But if it went to Mozambique instead of Gaza, I’m like, okay, that’s not as bad, but still, why are we doing that?”

Ed: No, we shouldn't be doing that, and the African bishops of the Catholic Church have been irate over that cultural supremacy from the West. We could assist with medicine and education, but we shouldn't go to other countries and promote sexual license at the expense of their own norms and mores. Speaking of which ...

Ed: They want us to fund it, too.

A federal judge on Wednesday clarified that the executive branch under President Donald Trump retains some authority to pause federal spending as long as it complies with existing statutes and regulations.

In a four-page order issued Wednesday, U.S. District Judge John McConnell reaffirmed that while a temporary restraining order remains in place against the administration’s broader funding freeze, the government is still permitted to limit access to federal funds in accordance with applicable laws. The ruling underscores that the White House does not need a court's permission to cut off funding if the decision aligns with existing laws and regulations.

Ed: I guess this is a step in the right direction, but the burden of proof is backwards. The TRO assumed that spending cuts were generally unlawful and now the court wants the Trump administration to prove otherwise. That still contradicts Article I.
